When things are going well, why do we automatically say “Well, things are too good to be true right now. Wonder when the bad thing is gonna happen to ruin this.” What’s the point of thinking like this? Are we trying to live our lives in such a pessimistic way that we have no choice but to expect bad things when everything is going well? And don’t use the excuse that you’re a realist, that’s not it. According to dictionary.com, a realist is defined as “a person who tends to view or represent things as they really are.” So in what way are you being a realist by saying bad things are going to happen while everything is going well in your life? A realist would assess the situation at hand, in this case, many positive things happening, and say “Wow, things are going well. There might be some speed bumps ahead, so I’ll be cautious, but right now I’ll enjoy things for what they are.” Do not be that person that walks around and mopes to people about bad things that are going to happen to them when they are enjoying life to the fullest. Do not look at life as how many L’s you’re going to take, look at the W’s. Look at all the beautiful and positive things that life is giving to you and enjoy them. Yes, bad things will inevitably happen, but it’s how you choose to deal with those that will help your life improve. So don’t be the person pointing out all the bad things in other people’s lives, because at that point, you’re the only bad thing that’s happening to them.
