A word to everyone who has been a victim of oppression, hate, misogyny, homophobia, or racism, to any man who has seen their wife, sister, daughter, friend, or mother face gender issues:

You are not alone. You have never been alone.

We, as a nation's people, have amended the Constitution, gained the right to vote, legalized marriage for all, broken glass ceilings, among hundreds of other victories. Together, we have changed the country we call home, we have come together to support refugees, to aid victims of natural disasters, to celebrate love, and to mourn the loss of those taken too young. We are stronger than you believe.

Our country is not going to lose 50 years of progress, because of the presence of another white man in the Oval Office. Our country is not going to revert back to the pre-Civil-War era, because one man lacks empathy. Our country is not going to close their hearts, and their minds because we are better than that.

We are going to move forward. We are stronger in times of turmoil, we thrive in times of hopelessness.

Blacks aren't the problem. Women aren't the problem. Latinos and Latinas aren't the problem. White men, LGBTQ, Muslims, Christians, refugees, children, elderly, republicans, and democrats are not the problem. Because humanity is never the problem.

We are the solution. We will continue to thrive. We will continue to help other nations reach their potential. We will continue to stand indivisible, as one nation. We will continue to seek liberty and justice for all. We will continue to educate our children with what is right, and what is wrong. We will continue to love.

And we will be okay.

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
