When The College Breakdown Hits
Whisper

When the first college breakdown hits, it hits hard. Undeniable events and scenes that every living individual has experienced before.

It's almost like your life is falling apart and crashing in on you all at once. Your grades are dropping substantially, your dreams seem unrealistic, and you feel like everyone around you is doing just fine. It feels like you are the only one struggling, the only one failing. At this point, you start to reconsider everything you have ever wanted. You wonder if college is really for you if the dreams you have are obtainable.

Everyone has these experiences of not knowing what to do next. We walk around, from class to class, aimlessly, just trying to get through the week without falling apart even more. Our minds often go blank, because the life we are living is too overwhelming and seemingly impossible. But, finding others that are int he same overwhelming life helps us cope. We have this belief that struggling together is better, it gives us this sense that we are not alone.

We've all come to the point in our college career where we have reached the edge of being confused, lost and utterly brainless. We cry, complain, and rant to anyone and everyone that will listen or even to the ones that won't. Anyone that will listen to the struggle of what we are going through in the hope they feel the same lostness. The hope that someone will understand that many feelings of confusion in class, and what exactly to do when we feel our life falling apart with no idea on how to fix it.

Take a step back from the many stressors of college and take some time for yourself, even if you feel like you can't. Take a walk. Talk to an old friend. Call your mom or sibling anyone from home that will listen and give you the advice you need. Read a book. Go have a drink. Eat a bunch of food. Anything you need to help pick yourself back up.

I understand, it feels like everything is falling apart and you will never be able to put everything back together. But I assure you from experience that you will get over this bump in the road and continue on your journey to your dreams. The rubber band may break and you may lose it for a minute, but it will all come back together. Scream and shout till your throat hurts but then pick yourself back up and keep chugging along.

The college breakdown is like no other breakdown you will have. It hits you where it hurts. It threatens to take your very dreams away from you. But, you have to stand back up after being pushed down and keep going. You have to pull yourself back together and tell yourself you got this.

College is difficult. But, do not forget, this is not the end. You are not alone. And everyone is rooting for you. You got this. It gets better.

As everything is piling up and you feel there is no way out just remember; Just put one foot in front of the other, just get through the day.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
