What's Up With The Clowns

Why is our nation being filled with creepy clowns?

Over the past couple of weeks, an epidemic of creepy clowns has spread throughout the nation. The first sighting was at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina and has only continued to move through the south and now into other parts of the nation as well. Different reports say that the clowns have been trying to lure children into the woods with candy or loads of money. Some have even said to have been chased by them and now the threat has increased to the carrying of weapons. This entire occurrence only leaves me asking why? What purpose do these clowns have and what are they trying to achieve?

At first, I was curious to if it was some sort of new cult or group that was just looking to torment society. With Halloween coming up, this seems pretty likely but I no longer think that this is just all fun and games. Since the sightings have started, many have been making different social media accounts and contacting people and making threats. They have been creating different events on Facebook and adding much more suspense and anticipation to the entire thing. Which social media has added even more fear to the situation and caused it to spread like wildfire.

Characters such as Twisty the clown from “American Horror Story” and Pennywise from Stephen King’s IT, only teach us that clowns are something to fear. Now it's as if all of our worst nightmares are coming to life and are lurking in our own backyards which makes me wonder if this is the whole purpose. Taking on the roles of clowns causes an immediate breakthrough with people. Most of society’s natural reaction to normal circus clowns is being freaked out or uneasy, so increasing the severity to crazy killer clowns is really unimaginable. Not knowing is the worst part. Whether you don't know if they will do anything or even wondering if they are always watching. Fear is one of the strongest human emotions and this group of people are doing an amazing job by working off of this.

Hopefully, the terrorization will die down, but it still leaves you wondering what the entire point is. Is it the anticipation that they are wanting to create or is it a warning to further events? This something that we will have to wait patiently to find out.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
