If you’ve had a crappy day, I hope this picture puts a smile on your face.
Yes, that is my extremely fat English bulldog attempting to swim with a life jacket on, you’re welcome!
Unfortunately, some days are not as great as others, and you just need an encouraging word. So here’s your encouraging line for the day to put into perspective how stressed you shouldn’t be: what’s the worry? What’s the point?
Worrying is the easiest thing to do in this world. But why worry and stress when things are so far beyond your control?
For all my Christian peeps out there, sometimes you’ve just got to let go and let God. There is so much peace in knowing that he is in control. While I do severely struggle with letting things happen the way that they’re supposed to, I’ll leave you with one verse that hangs above my bed. I read this verse every time I get a little worried and stressed about things that are out of my control: “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalms 46:10. Seriously, you should find so much peace in that statement.
For anyone who wants a different perspective than the typical Christian one, I can do that too. What do you gain out of worrying? Yes, I know that life sucks. It’s hard, and now that most of us are three weeks into college, school makes you want to cry every time you think about it (which is practically every second of the day). So while you’re two seconds from a mental breakdown, it doesn’t change that fact that you have another day of class tomorrow.
Life is about being proactive, and being proactive is hard. In fact, living your life day by day and going through the motions is something you can become accustomed to. There are days when I look back and don’t remember a single thing that happened. Sitting there and worrying is just a waste of time. You should be doing one thing every day that you can remember; you become content when you just go through the motions. A life in contentment and with no risk isn’t a life where you wake up every day and are happy to live. Living is a great thing when you take advantage of the life you’ve been given.
Worrying about the future and where your life is going to take you doesn’t change the course that your life is going to take. There is nothing you can do about it. When you constantly worry, all you do is waste the present time, the here and now which is is the only time that your body will everexist in. Don't waste it. When you focus on the here and now, you are presented with endless possibilities.
Happiness is a feeling that some of us often don’t feel anymore. Be grateful you’re living here. Love the people around you. Strive to make better relationships with your peers and families. Give yourself something to look forward to every day. Stop worrying about the past or the present!
Focusing on your present self helps you move on from the past and look forward to the future that is planned out for you!
