I was doing my homework one day, and my friends text me, "AU?". Now, what in the world is AU? Are they trying to find the Astronomical unit (it's 150 million Km if someone was asking)? . No, they asked me if I want to play the multiplayer game called Among Us. After they told me what it is and how to play it, I got addicted to it. Before writing this game, I played like five games.
If you never played these games before, what are you doing with your life?! It's an amazing game. This game is filled with deception, murder, twists, and big reveals. Imagine mafia but in SPACE. Among us is a social deduction game in which it consists of crewmates whose job is to do tasks to fix their ship. In the meantime, there is an impostor among them trying to kill them. The impostor( 1 to 3 depending on the game) has to kill as many crewmates as possible to win. The crewmates either complete the tasks or find out who the impostors are, to win the game.

Among us was released by Inner Sloth in 2018; however, a sudden spike in popularity occurred this couple of months. This rise of players is thanks to streamers on twitch who played the game live and excited other twitch streamers YouTubers to play it. And like a particular virus, the game spread around the world. Also, it became popular since everyone is at home and has nothing better to do.
A theory that I see around is that the crewmates come from the future and travel across miles and miles (maybe using the astronomical unit) to find a new plant. We know that these crewmates are human since they have a cafeteria, have a vending machine, and have a blood type. However, I hypothesize that they are humans that have mutated. The medbay scan their height is only 3'6" and weight is 92lb. That's relatively short and light for a human. Either they are mutated, or they are selectively chosen for this flight. Now I'm saying that they may be mutated since the impostor could have many mutations making him a monster. Either that or is just an alien sabotaging the mission.

This game reminds me a lot of the movie The Thing. The thing is basically about researchers who go to Antarctica. While they do their tasks, an alien parasite visits them where they can consume and company its DNAs of its victim to become a perfect replica. The researchers need to figure out who is the alien …..among them dun Dun DUUN.
Sounds familiar? Is the game an inspiration? Am I going crazy with these theories? Maybe to all. Who knows? What is essential is that it is a fun game.
Among Us is a perfect game to play with friends since it's a social game and can help you socialize with other players. Most of the interactions I had were nice and heartwarming. Since it is a deduction game, there's a lot of thinking, which can help with critical thinking too. But most importantly, it's Covid free. While we can't be social in real life, we can interact with friends online. I either play with people in the zoom, voice call, or discord, and it's so much fun.
Watching people debate is very entertaining. The thrill of playing impostor makes your heart pump. Also, trying to locate who the killer makes the whole thing engaging. Just like UNO, friendships can be broken by playing these games.
So why don't you tilt your phone sideways, play a random public game and find out who is sus.
