The famous Cinderella castle acts as a beacon for imagination, creativity, possibility and dreams and shines its’ magical light over six resorts throughout world:

  • California, USA (Disneyland, 1955)
  • Florida, USA (The Walt Disney World Resort, 1971)
  • Tokyo, Japan (Tokyo Disney, 1983)
  • Paris, France (Disneyland Paris, 1992)
  • Hong Kong, China (Hong Kong Disneyland, 2005)
  • Shanghai, China (Shanghai Disney Resort, Coming June 2016)

Disney also brings magic to their guests through the Disney Cruise lines, Disney Adventures and its’ studio entertainment.

The Walt Disney Company is known and loved internationally by people in every part of the globe. They bring magic not only through their shows, rides, characters and the unmistakably unique ambiance of the theme parks but also through the overall brand itself.

Disney magic is something that can be felt in the heart of a 3-year-old, 20-year-old and even in the heart of a 60-year-old. It’s nearly impossible to walk down Main Street USA without every single one of your senses being joyously overwhelmed by all things Disney. The music, the smells and the familiar magical setting channels the inner child inside all of us.

This company goes (to infinity and) beyond to be more than just its reputable entertainment name and world class theme parks. While it may be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information, where they also strive to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world, they are committed to preserving our environment. The Disney company is dedicated to conserving nature, and being the influential company that it is, they inspire kids and families to join them in caring for our planet. The Walt Disney Company is always thinking of new ways to incorporate environmental thinking into their daily decisions.

In addition to being environmentally conscientious, Disney is among the top most philanthropic companies. As said by the company itself, through contributions, collaborating with nonprofit organizations, in-kind gifts and employee volunteerism, Disney brings positive, lasting change to communities around the world. Just last year they gave $333.3 million to various nonprofit organizations. For how much money they make through their worldwide industry, they definitely don’t hesitate to give back, do their part to make a difference and impact lives.

The employees of Disney donate a generous amount of their time to make all these differences possible. For example, in 2013 through the VoluntEARS program, Disney employees so willingly contributed 667,013 volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations. The efforts of the Disney VoluntEARS program focus primarily on projects benefiting children and families.

For many, working for Walt and The Mouse seems like the ultimate dream job. How could one ever get so lucky as to land a gig like this and to work for a company as respected and distinguished as this one? Every year, thousands of college students get the opportunity to live, learn, and earn money at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort through the Disney College Program. Besides the benefits of working at the Happiest Place on Earth, they’re able to experience what it’s like to work for a Fortune 500 Company with myriads of achievements and awards such as:

  • 100 percent rating on Human Rights Campaign – Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality, 2014
  • Disney named Most Reputable Company – Forbes, 2013
  • Disney ranked No. 2 on World's Most Respected Companies list – Barron's, 2013
  • World's Most Admired Entertainment Company – Fortune, 2012
  • World's Most Admired Entertainment Company – Fortune, 2011
  • Top 50 Most Innovative Companies – Fast Company, 2010
  • Top 50 Companies for Diversity – DiversityInc, 2010
  • First Ever Green Ranking of the S&P 500 – Newsweek, 2010
  • 100 percent rating on Human Rights Campaign – Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality, 2008 – 2011

Although it’s commonly known for it’s parks and resorts, The Walt Disney Company has responsibility over several media networks like Disney Channel, ABC, Free Form and ESPN. Additionally, Disney Studios has brought us memorable movies, music, and stage plays; and among the studio names are Marvel™, Touchstone, Pictures, Pixar, and Lucas Film.

The Walt Disney Company is global and reaches people far and wide, all over the world. It’s unique and international entertainment presence creates ever-lasting memories and brings incomparable joy to every single one its’ guests. I couldn’t be more proud to become a part of this unparalleled leader in the entertainment industry in just a few months and begin my journey of working at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida through the Disney College Program.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
