I remember being in middle school and exploring beauty bloggers on youtube. I was always fascinated by the "what's in my purse?" videos. I was so excited to be a teenage girl.

Now, as I am venturing through young adulthood, I have decided to continue with my own "what's in my bookbag: college edition."

Here is everything I take to class, work, and study sessions:

1. Water bottle

Walking from opposite corners of campus in 10 minutes can be exhausting. Days can be long and hectic, so it's important to stay hydrated.

2. Pens, pencils, highlighters -- a copious amount of office supplies

Nothing is more embarrassing than being the kid who asks for a pen every single day of class. Come prepared and bring everything you'll need for class. It also helps to

3. Snacks

By lunchtime, I'm usually exhausted and starving. Throw a granola bar of fruit into your bag before class! A quick, small snack can help revitalize you in between classes or before lunch.

4. Planner

I religiously use a day planner to keep track of plans, events, classes, assignments, and extracurricular activities. Color-coding tasks is a great way to keep track of everything going on in your hectic schedule.

5. Color-code notebooks and folders

I use a different color notebook and folder for each class. This helps me to stay organize, and I seldom lose something (it all has its designated place). It's also great for a quick-grab of what you need for the day.

6. A book

Downtime in between or after classes can be lame, but time will fly by with some recreational reading.

7. Doodle paper

Lectures can get really boring. When it's too hard to pay attention, having some extra paper on hand is a blessing. It also helps when you're trying to map out plans or write some ideas down.

8. Headphones

Nothing says "do not talk to me before my 8 a.m." like popping in headphones. You'll be thankful you have headphones in your bag 24/7 when mom facetimes or that new album drops.

9. Chargers / Battery Pack

If you're like me, you suck at charging things the night before. Make sure you come to class, work, etc. with extra juice!

10. First Aid Kit

A little bag with tissues, band-aids, hand sanitizer and Neosporin has saved me too many times! It's a great feeling to be able to help someone else because you came prepared

So, here is my "what's in my bag" college addition. I hope this helps old and new students alike plan and prepare for their classes and busy days!

P.S. I recommend Jansport bookbags, they last for years!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
