I love skiing. I go to Colorado every February or March, and it’s the highlight of my year. My favorite destination is Breckenridge. During the spring, Breckenridge is sunny but still chilly, has fresh powder, and isn’t overly crowded. Besides spending time with my family, here are a few of my favorite things about spring skiing.
It's sunny.
It's more enjoyable for me to ski when it's warm and sunny rather than when it's below 30 and there's a blizzard. I never get lost, I can actually see the trail in front of me, and I can ski in the forest without being too scared.
It’s cold but not too cold.
Even though it's between 30 and 50 degrees, the sun is shining and it doesn't feel cold under my long johns, pullover, and heavy jacket. It will sometimes snow in the afternoon, but it's usually not a heavy blizzard.
It's not too crowded.
I always think the resort will be super crowded during spring break season, but Breckenridge is usually relatively empty. I like it when it's not crowded because I don't have to worry about people speeding around me or looking up the slope every time I make a big turn.
Exercise.
I usually ski for six hours per day. It feels so good to have sore legs at the end of the day and know that I challenged myself on the slopes.
Relaxing chair lift rides.
There's no snow pelting my face and the sun is shining. I love a calm ride on the chair lift before a challenging run.
Happy spring ski season!
