The summer brings us the sweet treats that we crave at all times of the year. But, during the summer, these desserts seem to be the best. They not only bring delicious tastes to summer but also they come with memories that we've built up since childhood. Here I've ranked the top desserts for the summer so if you were feeling confused and unsure which dessert to go for today, this list can help you!

1. Ice Cream

Ice creams tops all charts in the dessert department but in the summer this sweet, frosty treat tastes so much better. Just imagine on those hot summer days when you wander past your favorite ice cream shop and remember all the wonderful, tasty times you've spent sitting around with your ice cream cone, laughing and chatting with friends and family. You've tried to switch up the kind of ice cream you get but each time you end up with your same, delicious flavor. In all its unique flavors, ice cream bring joy to the faces and bellies of so many. What's not to love about this treat?

2. Popsicles

Popsicles rank second on this list for many reasons. The first being that it's a great treat if you're just sitting at home, boiling in a puddle of your own sweat and you want something light and chilly to cool you down. They are refreshing in their many fruity flavors and you can eat a couple because they are so addicting. You can even make your own if you are feeling crafty and looking for something rewarding to do on that hot summer day. Popsicles are a wonderful choice all around.

3. S'mores

Ah, this timeless classic. We crave it every time we hear, see or smell a bonfire. Even the simple marshmallow sets off these wild cravings. Some people can eat only one or two while I've witnessed others eat upwards of five. S'mores are the ultimate treat when it comes to sitting around a nice campfire (I should know, it's what kept me sane while camping). First, you roast the marshmallow to golden-brown perfection, making sure the insides are gooey and warm. Then, you sandwich it between two graham crackers and a piece of chocolate and you've got a wonderful summer treat that is guaranteed to make your hands sticky.

4. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oh the wonders this other classic dessert brings to the belly. On a rainy, summer day when you just want to sit inside and curl up with a nice book, these cookies provide the comfort you are looking for on this dreary day. They are best when they just come out of the oven so the chocolate melts effortlessly on your tastebuds, but really they are great anytime. Pair it with some ice cream and make a ice cream cookie sandwich and your life will be complete.

5. Slurpees

You know, the sugary goodness of a Slurpee lasts beyond your childhood years. The sweet flavors wrapped up in a frozen drink is the perfect way to beat the heat. And the best part is that any variety of flavors is cheap and available at most gas stations. The only question you have to ask yourself is how many different flavors can you mix together?

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
