Boyfriends are not all they are cracked up to be. Boys, in general, are rambunctious, smelly and insensitive creatures. When in a relationship with said creature, life can become hectic. One’s own turmoil mixed with a boyfriend’s troubles can cause excess stress and frustration. Thus, I have compiled a list of anything and everything better than a boyfriend.

1. First and foremost, a dog

Dogs are known for their loyalty and love for their humans. Dogs give you kisses when you return home after a long day and endless cuddles on cold days.

2. Friends

Especially your girlfriends. They are always down to trash talk the opposite gender. They won’t complain when you want to go shopping, watch a chick flick or take a cute staged picture.

3. Food

And lots of it. No one will be there to take your leftovers, so you keep chomping on that pizza, girl.

4. Netflix

Get lost in McDreamy’s eyes or cry over The Notebook with no shame as you Netflix the night away.

5. Treat yo self

All that money in your paycheck can be blown on that new MK purse.

6. Not shaving your legs

No one will touch your legs except you. No need to waste time in the shower shaving your legs when you could be practicing hitting that high note like Mariah Carey.

7. Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, Joe Manganiello…

Need I say more?

8. An education

That pretty face with a big brain is going to take over the world. School contributes to stress enough as it is; no need for a human being to add to this.

9. Family

Family will support you through the good times and the bad. Blood is thicker than water.

10. Independence

You are a strong, independent woman and don’t need no man. In the wise words of Sammy Adams, "Single doesn't mean I'm lookin' for somebody."

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
