If you grew up being uber close to your siblings and I mean sharing the same room Christmas night together so you could wake up at the same time close, then you probably find yourself missing them like crazy while apart from each other and you never tell them so.
Most of the time while living with your siblings you get caught up in all the drama and don't realize they are probably your best friend, regardless of how many or little you have they somehow end up holding a special piece in your heart. This typically sneaks up on you while you are away from each other, you forget about how close you really are but is easily one of the best things you stumble upon.
1. You tell stories about them constantly.
Regardless of the scenario (usually oddest and weirdest) you tell, it involves them somehow or more likely it was their idea. It probably was something like, my family housed a whole petting zoo of lake animals for 2 weeks until my dad found it! (ps this actually happened.) And for some reason stories like this are first thought when discussing your siblings or childhood.
2. ANY song that was regularly played as kids (or recently) reminds you of them.
I really mean any song that you made whether to a dance routine or one you sang at the top of your lungs, your siblings are first thought.
3. You actually say nice things about them!
When describing your siblings it's typically great things you could never actually admit to your sibling… My sister is drop dead gorgeous and easily prettier than me, like never had/never will have an awkward phase. But she will never hear it straight from me.
4. You also You also talk about all the weird things they do on a daily basis to make yourself look better.
*when around all friends, does something totally weird you do regularly at home and everyone gets weirded out* OKAY DONT WORRY I SWEAR MY SISTER MAKES THIS LOOK NORMAL SHES SO MUCH WEIRDER *proceeds to tell story to make self look normal*
5. After telling a story or talking to them on the phone it instantly cues homesickness or separation anxiety.
You would think these things would make you feel a little better or closer to home but it only takes a story of what's going on at home that makes you realize you wish you could have been apart of it.
Siblings are some of the worst, most tiring, best, and favorite people you have ever met. These people you were forced into living with is also easily one of the most underrated best friends you've ever had and no one can replace or top that.
6. So you HAVE to post it for an appreciation post
And of course have to post this totally mushy over the top post about said sibling as if they found out they have 6 months to live kinda thing. Because this post will show all real feelings. But only this though.
7. You realize you need a horrible picture of them to balance it out.
So of course this is now the perfect balance and the world is right and everything is fine to post without instagram thinking your sibling is better looking.
8. After telling a story or talking to them on the phone it instantly cues homesickness or separation anxiety.
