Ask yourself this: Why?

Recently I was at a seminar and was touched by what the speaker had to say. She asked the audience what is a purpose they had and once they had the answer, ask themselves why? Once you have the answer ask yourselves why two more times. What were you going to do about that why you asked yourself.

Why is such a large question to answer. It seems that answer comes out to be an infinity of reasons. It seems that you can never stop asking why at the end of your answer. Maybe asking yourself why will benefit you. You can never stop chasing that why. It can turn to something positive that will make you stronger or tear you down, but you decide how to take that answer.

So what is your why in life? Why do you want to be that in life? Why do you want to date that person? Why do you live that kind of lifestyle? Why do you want to accomplish that goal? Why?

What is purpose in each thing you do everyday? Do you have a goal that you have set and want to accomplish? What is the life you are living that has so much purpose? Why are you wanting to accomplish that dream? Will it better you? Why did you even start making that goal? Why?

Do you ever have to just stop and ask yourself what you want in life? Followed by what you need to do to get there? Where will that get you in life? What is pushing you to get there? Why?

What is the dream you are following? What got you there to want that dream? Who inspired you to want that goal? What are you going to do about that dream? Why are you going to keep following that dream? Why?

What started that why? Life has gotten you somewhere on a path to ask yourself why. What made you want to get there? Why will you continue that path? Why?

Life is crazy sometimes and it seems like it gets out of control. We feel we can not control what comes next and we ask ourselves the question "why?". Why did this or that happen to me? What did I do to deserve this to happen to me? Life seems to be full of surprises and nothing is going to stop them. Why will you not let life take you off that path? Why?

So ask yourself this: what is your why in life? Why are you doing that? Why do you want to achieve that? Why do you want to be with that person? Then back that question with two more why's. Will you be happy at the end of the day, week, month, year, or life when that why is answered? So what are you going to do with that answer? Are you going to achieve or fail? Be a better person or not? Are you going to make that goal happen or fail at that mission? ... Why?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
