We remember the Shoah
We remember the flames
But what we fail to recall
Are the placidity of those days
Sore and bruised many of us were
Tired of economic long abroad wars
No we did not have the mindset to think
Of the beaches being breached by the besieged
We did not want them here
They did not want us here
And when they turned US away
Our families were burnt or decayed
So, patriots, do not tell me
This does not affect you
Do not say
“Well I would have done it differently”
What you would have done then
What you would have protested, yelled, or conversated
What you would have lobbied and what you would have allowed
Is what you are doing right now
