All of these things have been randomly brought to my attention over the past few weeks and I was shocked at how deep in my memory they were. Honestly, these were simpler times...sigh. So scroll through this time machine of an article and remember the good old days.

Aquamarine

You're lying to yourself if you don't think this movie is life-changing. Okay, maybe not life-changing for everyone else but I know for a fact that when it came out in 2006, my friends and I were obsessed. We all had our mermaid phase (at least I hope it wasn't just me) but with this movie was my mecca, I rewatched it so many times. Not only does it have a young Emma Roberts but I just recently found out (after I rewatched it three days ago) that dreamy love interest, Raymond (Jake McDorman), is actually the star of one of my favorite TV shows, Limitless. Anyways, this movie was a cultural reset, no need to say anything more.

Shrinky Dinks

What even were these? Why were they such a staple in my childhood and why did everyone think they were so cool? To this day I don't even know how they work but having them was such a flex.

Jump Rope for Heart

REMEMBER THIS???? We literally had to get people to sponsor us to jump rope. I am pretty sure I was too lazy and I never raised any money but I was always jealous of the prizes people got.

Pretty Pretty Princess

Amazon

I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw a picture of this old game and I started having flashbacks to playing this with my dad. Yes, my dad. I am not sure either of us was very clear on the rules, I just liked putting all the jewelry on my dad and me so we could wear them all around my house like the princesses we were.

The Scholastic Book Fair

Giphy

Can't you remember the smell? I was a book nerd in elementary school (still am) and once the pamphlet for the fair showed up in our cubbies I would rush home and circle every book I wanted to get right away. Unfortunately, my parents would only give me $20 and those tri-highlighters that smelled like different fruits almost always won out. They were cheaper than books!

Lip Smackers

Instagram

I had what some would call an addiction to flavored lip gloss. I had an entire shoebox filled with the most random types, no joke I had a water flavored one and Hershey's chocolate syrup. Just walking past the aisle in Target made me swoon but WHY DID I NEED SO MANY??? But the root beer flavor will always have my heart.

Rainbow Magic Books

YouTube

Did you know that there are 218 of these books?!?!?! If I had known that when I was nine I would've read them all! This was my favorite book series as a kid (I had a fairy phase too...don't judge I am sure you did too) and I totally forgot about them. If you read them as a kid you are definitely cool now that's all I gotta say.

Smencils

Scent C

If you pulled out your pencil bag and revealed a bubble gum smelling pencil enveloped in a clear casing (to keep the smell fresh, of course) you knew what was up. Elementary school was automatically ten times more fun with one of the gourmet writing utensils. I just remember feeling so cool when someone asked if they could smell your pencil. Smencil users will forever be elite.

Bibble

I couldn't have finished this article without including my main man, Bibble! You're a real one if you know where he is from.

I hope you had some awesome flashbacks and were brought back to your childhood :)

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
