Positive affirmations, speaking scenarios into existence, manifesting life into your dreams— say what you will. They all can serve a purpose in our lives, this is done by allowing us to see “what is” and making preparations for “what will be” and being 100% determined that the “what will be” will be just that. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big advocate for being optimistic, and realistic of course, about my goals and my future, anyway that I can share my tips with those around me about how they can achieve maximum success and ultimately living their best life yet, that’s what I aspire to do.

So what exactly is my secret? How am I able to implement this pristine picture about my future life’s success and honor what’s to come for me with gratitude? It’s quite simple in fact and you, yes YOU reading this can achieve the same type of mindset in regards to your goals, success, etc. Have you ever heard of a vision board? This complex board holds the power to shape out your life and everything that you want it to be consumed with; it may sound crazy but trust me when I say this actually works.

Those of you who know what I’m talking about then you know exactly what a vision board is and the purpose it can serve in your life. Meanwhile, for those of you who have probably never heard of such a thing, well don’t worry. After reading, my hope is that you’ll feel inspired enough to craft your very own and be on your way to taking your life to the next level.

First off, let’s cover the basis—what is a vision board and what does it need to include? Basically, this is a visualization tool (hence the name) that allows you to see your biggest life goals, desires, needs, and so on visually in front of you. It can include pictures, artifacts, quotes—anything at all really, but each of these components should be related to a specific idea or goal of some sort that you wish to achieve at some point in your life. For example, let’s say that one of your goals is to travel to Paris, France, you could easily find a picture of the Eiffel Tower and have a space for that on your board; maybe even consider some French lingo and include that on there...”bon jour!”

A simple cork-board, poster-board, or even a canvas will be just fine to attach your vision board components onto. If you're feeling really crafty, maybe you want to construct a series of mini vision boards for each specific area in your life. For instance, a future relationship or maybe even your career; another important thing to keep in mind with vision boards is that it's equally important to add things based on "how you want to feel" as well as things you wish to obtain one day.

See, doesn’t that seem simple? It really does boil down to using your creativity however you like and ensuring that each part of your board symbolizes something important, no matter how big or small. Oh but wait, it doesn’t stop there.

I personally think the really cool thing about vision boards is that it’s tied with the idea of “Law of Attraction” which is ultimately the philosophy that believes in the power of ideas; proponents of this feel that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, you can bring those thoughts to life in the real world. When you’re able to direct your focus on your dreams and putting forth your effort to shape them into aspirations, you’re allowing yourself to move in the direction of true growth.
Famous author, Napoleon Hill, once said, “Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true.”

It’s been noted that visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. I remember watching this documentary with my dad and stepmom, and later reading the book, The Secret, and I remember the book stating, “when you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.” Everything we choose to focus on, expands. Take some time to consider what some of your biggest life goals are and how you'd craft them onto your own vision board.

Now, maybe your're questioning why exactly should you have a vision board. Let's say for scenario, you're one of those people who always sets new goals but has a huge lack of actual follow through then this is the perfect thing for you! Honestly ask yourself, how motivated am I to put forth the effort into each of my goals? With every goal that you have, you should feel inspired to execute them; A vision board will serve as a personal reminder for your goals, and when you can see them you know it actually has the possibility to exist.

As you can see, vision boards are definitely something special and hold special power. It's still early into the year, so what are you waiting for? My mind is bustling with ideas as I prepare to update my own. What do you say, let's get crafting!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
