8 Things You Didn't Realize You Missed About Home

But now that you were there, you don't know how you forgot about them.

For those of you who went home for Thanksgiving Break, I'm sure that there are several things that you didn't realize you missed while away at college this semester, but now that you're finally home with your family again, you don't know how you forgot about these things.

1. Your bed.
Actually, you probably did miss this, but you may not have realized how much you missed it until you were finally able to lie down on its extremely warm and comfortable surface at last.
"I truly missed you, bed."

2. Food that is actually appealing.
Again, you most likely did miss this, but you may have underestimated how much you have been longing for your mom's home cooking.
"Don't ask me what I want for dinner, mom. Literally anything sounds good right now."

3. Not sharing a tiny room with another human.

Depending on how well you and your roommate get along, this could be both a blessing and a curse. Yes, you probably are glad that you don't have to worry that you're getting in someone else's way, or that your unusual taste in music is annoying the person you live with. At the same time, you may miss having someone to have deep conversations with late at night, or having someone to grab food with you. Just as long as you don't try to talk to your roommate when he or she isn't there, you should be fine.
"Hey, roommate. Roommate? Oh, wait. You're not here."

4. Your parents.
Another one that you almost definitely missed, but you may not have let yourself acknowledge how much you truly missed them until you finally got home. They've missed you just as much as you've missed them, so they don't mind quite as much as they normally would when you try talking to them while they're trying to sleep.
"Hey, Mom."
"What?"
"Let me tell you about this thing from school."
"Can it wait until the morning?"
"Oh yeah. You're trying to sleep. Sorry."

5. Your pets.
This depends on whether or not you have pets, and how attached you are to them, but if you love your pets, you almost definitely missed them.
"Let's be honest. I missed my cat more than I missed some of my extended family."

6. Free laundry!
Enough said.

7. Being able to relax.
You may not be able to relax as much as you would like, but not having to go to classes makes everything else a little easier to deal with.
"Dad, don't remind me that I still have work to do over the break. Just let me savor this time in peace."

8. Almost everything about home.
Sure, there may be some things that you didn't miss at all, but you did miss a lot.

You may have missed big things and little things while getting a higher education, and you may not have realized how much you missed these things until you had them again. All that really matters is that you get to spend time with your family again, and you get a short break before the stress of finals.
I hope you took full advantage of this break, enjoyed being around the people and things you've missed for so long, and ate plenty of turkey.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
