" Grey's Anatomy" is a television series like many others. For the 12 seasons it's been around, it has provided viewers with great advice and life lessons from each character. Here is a list of the characters and what you can learn from each of them after watching this show.

1. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd

Be a leader, and do what you love each and every day because life most certainly is short.

2. Meredith Grey

No matter what life throws your way, be a strong individual and never give up.

3. Alex Karev

It doesn't matter what your past consists of or what others think about you. People are going to judge you either way so don't let it get to you, and think about yourself in the way you think. Everything is about the present and how you feel and think about yourself. So live and show people the person you truly are and what you have accomplished along the way.

4. Christina Yang

Follow your goals in life, and be the individual you want to be. Always work your a*s off because no one else is going to do it for you. Never be dependent on others, because they are going to think about themselves before you.

5. Mark Sloan

It's your life, and you can only go through life once so make it one you love and want it to be!

6. Miranda Bailey

Be able to push others through hard times and struggles along with your own. Fight 'til the end.

7. George O'Malley

It's OK to be different than the usual, there is much more to life than what the people in high school remember and think of you as.

8. Callie Torres

Don't be afraid to express the type of person you are to anyone because everyone is unique in their own special way.

9. Richard Weber

Have the bravery and strength to get through the things you're frightened of.

10. Izzy Stevens

It's OK to need a hand from others. We can't always get through things alone.

11. Addison Montgomery

Don't pass up on any great opportunity given to you for someone else, because it could change not only your life but also yourself for the better.

12. Arizona Robbins

Nobody is perfect in life so sometimes it's OK to give someone a second chance. Accept people for who they have become, not by the mistakes they've made.

13. Jackson Avery

Always perform to your fullest because you never know who's watching.

14. Owen Hunt

Everyone makes mistakes in life. You can't learn from things in life without making mistakes first.

15. April Kepner

Don't leave things unsaid. Tell others how you feel, and don't keep it inside to destroy you later on.

16. Amelia Shepherd

There will be struggles and challenges throughout everyone's lives but fight 'til the end. Push through the hard times 'til you can't push any longer.

17. Teddy Altman

In order to move on with your life, you have to move on and forget your past and not look back. It's very painful and hard, but it's the only way.

18. Lexie Grey

Life doesn't just work out the way we want it to. We as individuals have to turn life into the way we want it to be for ourselves, and the way we all plan.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
