What You Can Do To Change The World

When picking at a dandelion most see a pesky weed. Yet if you make a wish its seeds are spread all across the globe to germinate into yet another flower. Can this be true for good deeds?

A single dandelion is so powerful. The word dandelion as found in the dictionary is defined as a weed. People go to Home Depot or Lowes and search the shelves for weed killers that destroy this bud. Yet man people do not see how resilient this flower,(yes I purposely called it a flower) is. With just one single burst of wind or breath it becomes a chain reaction. It sets the world on fire and spreads its seeds around the world. The flower dies when plucked but only begins life. A dandelion is a prevailing tool in disguise as a humble flower. It symbolizes the love and kindness that can ensue from a small act of kindness. When life become clouded and full of troubles, these tiny gems are passed over. People briskly walk by forgetting the times when as little kids on bike rides they would stop and pick a bouquet of dandelions for their parents.

Imagine a world full of people who are dandelions. People who dare to make their dreams become a reality, or people who see the necessity of creating a better world. It does not need to start off being huge and have a global impact. Just one idea with the right amount of work, passion and help can spread throughout the world and transform it. In fact there are already “dandelions” out there. There are people who every day in each small step are setting a trail blaze which will produce inspirational change. They are not always out in the open and known. Many of these dandelions are in the shadows and may not even realize just how much of an effect they are making. Dandelions are small and often lost in the grass. However, when the right child comes and picks it up, it becomes a gentle force that never settles down.

What may be an unwanted plant to some people is a beautiful reminder of what each one of us is capable of doing if we believe in ourselves. With mentors and people who love and challenge us we can fly and let our amazing dreams grow into better and grander changes. The question left for you to answer is will you let your beautiful dandelion become a weed and be destroyed or will you choose to let it grow and impact the world?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
