What You Can Buy With $1.3 Billion

On January 9, like me, you probably spent your Saturday night waiting for the Powerball numbers to be released. Now this is not a weekly activity for me, but when the jackpot hits $900 million why not give it a shot. When my six numbers weren't shown on the screen I was fairly disappointed; even though statistically I had a better chance getting struck by lightning twice than winning. Unfortunately, nobody went to bed a winner. It was announced on January 10, that there was no winner for the largest recorded jackpot in history. Since we all have another shot at the big bucks, the jackpot rolls over. The new jackpot is estimated at 1.3 billion dollars. This number seems ridiculous and almost unreal but its true (before taxes at least). Anytime a lottery jackpot gets this high, I love to sit around and talk about all the things I would buy. I'd pay off my crippling student loan debt, buy a house (or five), and travel the world. A billion dollars can buy one person, a lot so let's put this jackpot number in perspective for you.

With $1.3 billion you can buy...

1) 650,000 Meet & Greet Justin Bieber Tickets

Obviously this would be the first thing to come to mind for me. When Justin announced his tour the Meet & Greet tickets were selling for $2,000 a piece. With your new found fortune you could buy 650,000 of those tickets, if they weren't sold out already.

2)4,062 ofKylie Jenner's Ferrari

Tyga, the boyfriend of Kylie Jenner, bought her a over-the-top birthday gift this year. The crisp white Ferrari convertible retails for $320,000, which costs more than most of our current houses. Look out Kylie, you may have one Ferrari but we have over 4,000.

3) 65 of Kim and Kanye's House

The power couple purchased their lavish home in 2014. It features two swimming pools, two spas, and its very own vineyard. For the small price of $20 million Kimye is living the life. However, you could afford 65 of their mansions. Maybe E! will even give you a reality show and you and your family will rule the world. Fingers crossed.

4)8 Trips to the Moon

That's right you can literally pay to be shot into space. Now obviously this trip doesn't take you to the actual moon but it does fly you around it. The trip on a spacecraft, piloted by a Russian astronaut, costs $150 million. You and seven friends could take the once in a lifetime trip or you could just be selfish and go see the moon eight times.

5) The Cleveland Cavaliers

That is if they were for sale. Since the return of LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise has been estimated to be worth an insane $915 million. You'd even have some money left over to spare.

Hopefully, If you do win the jackpot you do something smart with your money. Pay off your debt, invest it, or donate to charity. Until, I see my winning numbers on the screen I am going to keep dreaming of the amount of times I can meet Justin Bieber.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
