Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League, is a fraud. He is known to get into mishaps with the New England Patriots, especially with starting quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick. Letās go back to a time when New England only had three Super Bowl titles. In 2007, there was the scandal āSpygateā where New England was accused of recording the New York Jets practicing and the former were found guilty. Yes, they were in the wrong and they paid for it greatly; they had to pay $750,000 from Belichick and the team to the league and the stripping of their first round pick. That being said, they have gone back to the Super Bowl twice, in the 2011 season, losing to the New York Giants, and in the 2014 season, winning against the Seattle Seahawks.
Additionally, there was another ācrimeā called āDeflategate,ā where it was known that New Englandās team were ācheaters.ā Deflategate was concerning New England staff members who deflated football after the second half of the American Conference Championship in the 2014 season against the Indianapolis Colts, when New England won that game 45-7. I believe it to be a lie and that āDeflategateā was just a scandal constructed by Indianapolis and the commissioner. Just look at the score ā 45-7. There was no way that Indianapolis was going to win that game. There were hearings and trials, illustrating that Brady had some knowledge of staff members tampering with the footballs. After Judge Richard Berman denied what Goodell thought he would win, Berman overturned Goodellās notion because there wasnāt enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
Nevertheless, Goodell was still not done with the New England organization. Goodell set out to make the league look better than they actually were by having a three-judge panel discuss the case and in the end, New England had to pay half a million dollars and Brady had to serve out a four-game suspension that happened during the 2016 season, two years after the alleged incident.
Goodell has a vendetta against New England. He hasnāt attended a game in Foxborough since January 2015, two years after the fact. Now that Brady, Belichick and the rest of New Englandās team is headed to the Super Bowl once again, what is on the docket for the commissioner? Will there be other issues with the balls? Will there be another public embarrassment that the National Football League Players Association will have to handle?
Following Brady's four-game suspension, he was on fire with what he has done with New Englandās offense, including passing yards, touchdown to interception ratio and his ability to make plays happen. New England is heading to Super Bowl LI and there is nothing that Goodell can do about it. Will Goodell even be at the Super Bowl? (Of course he has to be there, he is the commissioner of the NFL; he has to be there to give the Vince Lombardi trophy to whoever wins). What if Brady wins? Will the fans be booing him just like they did when Brady won Super Bowl XLIX and everyone knew that Deflategate was happening? Tune into FOX at 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 5 to see what will happen as Super Bowl LI is underway on that fateful Sunday.
