1. My bed.
Nothing can compare to plopping down on my bed after a long day. My bed just feels like home, and no dorm bed could possibly compare.
2. Home cooking.
Having to settle for dining hall meals after months of delicious home cooking will be rough to say the least. Going from the freedom to make whatever I want, to the depressing decision between pizza, pasta or salad. RIP to my stomach.
3. My own space.
Roommates can be fun and all but there are definitely days where I just want to come back to my room and be alone. At home it's nice to be able to just let the pants come off, turn some music on, and not worry about your roommate coming in and hardcore judging you.
4. Seeing my family everyday.
I'm going to miss having my sister right next door and being able to hang out with her whenever I want. I'll miss going on outdoor adventures with my dad and always jamming in the car to '80s music with my mom. It's going to be weird having them a phone call away instead of just a room away.
5. My high school friends.
I love being able to see the people I was close to while I was in high school. Whenever we get together, it's like nothing has changed. Even though we are scattered around at different schools hours apart, we still find ways to stay in touch and hang out. The late nights, stupid puns, belly laughs and gossip will be dearly missed, but I know Thanksgiving break will be here soon enough.
6. My pets.
I'll miss all the cuddles and stupid things my pets do. I guess pictures from my mom and Snapchats from my sister will have to suffice until I come home next.
7. Seclusion.
A college is filled with thousands of other people all within the same vicinity. That being said, it is very hard to find a place where you can be alone on campus. I come from a small town where seclusion can be found in most places, so it'll be quite the change to be in a place where somebody is always around.
8. Not having to worry about classes.
It's a wonderful feeling to wake up at 12 in the afternoon and not be in a cold sweat over all the work you have yet to accomplish. The lack of responsibility will be deeply and utterly missed.
9. My hometown.
I may have despised my small town while I was in high school, but now that I've had some distance, I've really learned to appreciate it. There may not be a lot here other than corn fields, cows and rolling hills, but it does have its perks. I'll miss being able to go outside and just enjoy the serenity of nature right in my front yard. I'll miss being able to drive 15 minutes to hike, fish, or canoe and the windy back roads I take to get there.
