Since childhood, we have been accustomed to believe that superheroes are superhumans who can cope with any problems and defeat any villains, be it Mandarin, Samuel Stearns, Clo, Gorilla Man or Green Goblin. But could they overcome old age? Scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia tried to figure this out. After watching 24 films of the Marvel universe released in the period from 2008 to 2021, experts analyzed the habits, lifestyle and genetics of the characters, and then suggested what kind of life each of them would expect in retirement.
"Marvel superheroes are focused on maintaining security, creating artificial intelligence and developing technologies to facilitate space travel. However, our study suggests that they also pay attention to solving problems such as providing high-quality medical and social care to the elderly. In the future, this would allow people across the multiverse, including superheroes themselves, to enjoy a high quality of life in old age," says one of the authors of the work, Professor Ruth Hubbard, an employee of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the Center for Health Services Research.
