There's nothing worse than needing to have something written, and having no idea what to say. Whether it be an essay for class, letter to a friend, or even an article, sometimes you just need to get some piece of writing done. This has happened to me more times than I can count! I have come up with some things that help me when I get writer's block, and never seem to fail to make for a good message.
So here it is.
1. Limit all distractions
Nothing causes more problems for you and your brain when you are trying to do some writing than distractions. Turn off the TV, go to a quiet space, and allow yourself to brainstorm on the topic. If you're trying to do too many things at one time it could be the cause for your confusion.
2. Ask others for some help
If you're writing on a topic that you don't know a whole lot about, it can be extremely helpful to seek out another brain. Even if your friend doesn't know a lot about it, you can ask them their opinion on what makes sense, or even if you have an interesting idea!
3. Sit down and write
If you cannot possibly think of the right words, then get out your computer or notepad and write down whatever comes to you, regardless of what that may be. Eventually the wrong words may end up circulating new ideas that you didn't have before. The right ideas could come from this exercise, and then you're half way there!
The key to overcoming writer's block is realizing that no idea is a bad idea. Use your creativity to drive you to learn more about what your mind can do! The words are always right there, sometimes you just have to try a little harder to get them out.
