The New York Giants defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-10 in a Sunday matchup in Buffalo. The following players are awarded honorary game balls for their efforts in the Giants impressive win.
1. Devon Kennard
This kid simply does not go away. Kennard followed a decent Week 3 game in which he totaled five tackles with a monster performance in Week 4. Not only did he match his Week 3 total in tackles with five, he also recorded a huge interception late in the first quarter. This allowed the giants to take over deep in Bills territory, eventually resulting in an Eli Manning connection with Dwayne Harris for a 21 yard touchdown throw. Kennard's physical play and gritty tackling really has some Giants fans smiling, and for good reason.
2. Rashad Jennings
With the Bills gaining momentum halfway through the 4th quarter, the Giants needed someone to make a big play. Rashad Jennings provided just that after receiving an Eli Manning dump-off pass on 3rd and 3. Jennings not only showed his speed during the play, running 51 yards in a matter of seconds, but also showed his massive strength when he stiff-armed Buffalo's Bacarri Rambo at the 10-yard line. Jennings' tough catch and run gave the Giants the last push they needed to come away with a victory.
3. Prince Amukamara
Amukamara showed the nation why he was considered one of the top corners of his class on Sunday. Not only was he 2nd in tackles for the Giants, he also managed to strip and recover a fumble in the fourth quarter with New York up 24-10. Amukamara has been pretty solid all year long, especially with Dominique Rodgers Cromartie not 100 percent health wise.
4. Dwayne Harris
Dwayne Harris came to New York with hopes of becoming more than just a special teams stud. Although his main duties so far have been doing what he does in special teams, Harris has shown flashes that he can be a 3rd receiving option for Manning and the Giants. Racking up 51 receiving yards on five receptions and gathering one touchdown in the process, Harris was as solid as could be expected on Sunday. Hopefully, he continues to develop and becomes a reliable all around receiver.
5. NYG Offensive Line
Well this comes as a surprise. How many times have we heard that the Giants o-line was nothing but trouble? It seems like just yesterday Manning had 5 milliseconds to throw the ball before he was on the ground. Well let me tell you something: Those days are now over. After facing a very tough Bills front seven, the Giants can now feel optimistic about keeping Manning upright. The solid pass protection was not the only thing that stood out, however. The run blocking was also excellent, allowing the running backs to find holes where there should not have been.
To sum everything up, this team is giving me some hope. After starting the season with somewhat mediocre playing, the Giants have really come into their own. If they manage to control their schedule in the near future, I don't think any NFC East team can top the Giants before the playoffs roll around. And with Manning at the helm and Beckham Jr. attracting lots of attention, this team has a very similar aura to the previous Super Bowl winning squads in the Tom Coughlin era.
I'll leave you with this: The Giants won the Superbowl in 2007 after beating the Buffalo Bills in the regular season. Four years later, the Giants win the Superbowl after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the regular season. What will happen in 2015?
