As I drove past my alma mater, C.E. Byrd, I began to think of all the things I miss about the school. Memories and moments that I never thought I would miss, but now I suddenly do. It is odd to me how when time changes so do your memories and thoughts of things that have now become distant memories.

1. Student Section

Who would have ever thought? We all miss being apart of the best high school student section in the nation. The students of C.E. Byrd pride themselves on their student section and people always look forward to seeing if the students come out to support, which they always do. We have fond memories of screaming "you you you" any time someone on the opposing team did not catch the ball. The memories of all the chants and chilling roller coaster moves, we miss being a part of this student section that has national recognition and all wish we could do it one last time.

2. Football

We miss Friday night football and all the things that came along with it, like the pep rallies and game day attire. There is nothing like hearing "the heartbeat of the city" (Byrd's band) play after a touchdown or before a kick off. We all miss linking arms at the end of the game to sing the alma mater and also screaming "C. E. BYRD" to the top of our lungs.

3. Pep Rallies

After hearing the bell ring for the pep rally to start, the halls would fill with students running to the gym to get a good seat. You would walk in to the gym and see cheerleaders and dance line lined along the bleachers, dancing to the fight song with huge smiles on their faces. We all miss seeing Jack, the mascot, perform his phenomenal skits. Jack was, and still is, the best mascot in the state (I am not being biased at all.) We miss seeing the cheerleader's stunts and the Highstepper's jump splits, along with the football players busting through their banner while their choice of music was playing. The playoff pep rallies were always the best, but we miss the pep rallies in general.

4. "Umm"

We seriously all miss hearing Mr. Badgley come on the intercom throughout the day. He always had something to tell us, no matter the importance.

5. Jane Shaffer

You already know, especially if you attended Byrd. And if you did, I am sure you have some mad essay formatting skills all thanks to this lady. Thank you to all the English teachers for teaching us how to write in this format, it is super helpful in college!

6. Jack's Landing

Sitting outside in the 95 degree heat for lunch is one thing I do not miss. However, I would do it all over again just to sit with all of my friends again.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
