What I Want My Pet To Know While I'm At College

A Letter To My Pet

Dear beloved pet,

I'm just taking a short vacation from home, I promise I didn't leave you forever.

My cute fur-baby, there's just a few things I want you to know...

I wish I could take you on this new adventure with me, but I know that you probably wouldn't like the dorm as much as our spacious home. Even though you would receive a bunch of hugs and kisses, you wouldn't feel at home

I show you off every time I get a chance; this includes talking about you way more than people would like me to. I show them all the funny videos and pictures of us so please don't worry, everyone knows that you exist back in my other home.

Yes, this means that everyone else shows off their pets too, but I will forever believe that you're the absolute best pet (even if my friend's dog is super cute too).

I appreciate all the times you cuddled and comforted me when you knew that I was sad. I don't know how but you always knew when I was having a bad day.

I appreciate all the times you cuddled with me just 'cause. Thank you so much for snuggling with me while I wasted several hours watching The Office on Netflix (although I know you enjoyed the show just as much as I did).

I miss your silly snores and how you always take up the most space on my bed. And for letting me pull a blanket over you so I could take those adorable pictures that are posted all over Twitter.

Though it was a small action, running to the door in excitement every time I came home always made me feel special (I mean c'mon, my dad doesn't run up to the door every time I unlock it).

I'm jealous of all the naps you get to take because nowadays I don't nearly get enough sleep.

When college gets a little too tough, I think about going back home to you and the rest of the family.

Somehow, someway I'm going to smuggle you into my off-campus housing next year (don't tell mom or dad).

I hope you miss me as much as I miss you.

I can't wait to tell you about everything that I've gotten myself into here at college because I know you won't judge me.

You may not be the only pet currently or in the future, but you will always have a piece of my heart. You're the best pet a person could ask for.

I know I'm your favorite human in the world (it's okay though I won't tell the rest of the family).

I''ll be back soon, so get ready for a big, big hug.

Love,

Your Favorite Owner

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
