What I Want You To Know About Donald Trump

What you think you know is wrong.

What I Want You To Know About Donald Trump
CNN

Our country is in the midst of a presidential election. While it is already red hot, it is only warming up. Pardon my French, but do you want to know what really pisses me off? People are so misinformed about this election because they get all their information off of Buzzfeed and Nowthis articles on Facebook and Twitter. The liberal media controls what you read, hear and see on the Internet. So I am going to try my best to give you some information about Donald Trump that you may not have known, or you think you know, but you’re wrong.

  • Donald Trump wants to get rid of all the Mexicans.
  • Donald Trump hates women.
  • Trump supporters are violent.

No. If you honestly believe that Donald Trump hates Mexican Americans or the entire country of Mexico, please just stop. Donald Trump does not want America to get rid of all the Mexican Americans, only undocumented citizens. This brings up something interesting. I see a lot of people threatening to move to Canada if America were to elect Trump. Why not move to Mexico? Mexico is full of drugs and crime. I can understand why there are so many fleeing Mexico and coming to America. But if they were to do it legally, it would not be a problem to Trump, his supporters and myself, whatsoever.

No. Donald Trump had a very large feud with Rosie O'Donnell, Megyn Kelly, and is currently going after Hillary Clinton. But by no mean does Donald Trump hate women. I understand 100 percent why he would hate Hillary Clinton and Rosie O'Donnell though. I hate Hillary Clinton with every fiber of being and I have never even met her before.

Here is another interesting and touchy subject. There are a number of Trump supporters who have been violent towards protesters. There are also a number of Bernie Sanders supporters who have been violent towards Trump supporters. This past week in San Jose, Sanders supporters were filmed assaulting a man for wearing a Trump shirt, egging a woman for wearing a Trump pin, rocking vehicles with Trump stickers on them, and other violent acts. This can go both ways. At the Trump rally I attended, we shared hot chocolate and cookies outside in the cold with the protesters. Some of whom I had classes with at school.

Capital University is a very liberal school. I got bored one day and brainstormed a fun social experiment. I put a very large Trump sign in my window and wanted to see how my colleagues would react. Every day I had someone shouting something at me through my window. I was called racist, xenophobic, sexist, misogynistic, an asshole, bastard, etc. I had rocks thrown at my window that startled me at first, but by the end of my experiment I was used to it. My favorite encounter I had, however, was one Sunday evening a man stood outside my closed blinds and windows shouting, “Come outside and show your face!”

So I decided to make things a little more interesting and put a Hillary Clinton sign in my next window to see how people would react to that. Now let me be frank, I hate Hillary Clinton more than I hate the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Golden State Warriors, and those little cube-shaped pieces of Pepperoni. With that sign hanging in my window I heard less about my Trump sign, yet nothing about the Clinton one.

This whole experiment I did was for nothing more than entertainment. I got what I expected, plus some. I just wanted to use my time to maybe inform anyone who reads this about what life is like when everyone is seemingly against you. But all I do is urge you, please don’t get all your political knowledge from Facebook. Actually, watch a debate. Go to a rally. Listen to what the candidates really have to say. What they truly stand for. Don’t get all your “facts” from edited videos meant to try to change your perception and what you see and hear.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
