11 Things People With Type A Personalities Say Versus What They Really Mean

Everyone's personality is different. They vary from person to person and that is what makes you unique! Some individuals are cool, calm, and collected while others can be uptight, apprehensive, and constantly nervous. If you identify with the latter half of that statement, you most likely have a Type A personality. Being a Type A is nothing to worry about, but we will anyway because it's just in our nature to do so. Type A personalities are ambitious, determined, and go-getters. Once a Type A sets their mind to something, there is no stopping them. We might say one thing, but mean another, so for all of those Type A personalities out there, here is a list of what we say versus what we actually mean.

1. What you say: "Oh, I'm fine!"

What you mean: "SOS! Please help!"

2. What you say: "A little clutter doesn't matter."

What you mean: "OMG, is that a grain of rice in the corner of my kitchen?"

3. What you say: "To-do lists just help to keep me organized."

What you mean: "I guarantee you that if I physically do not write down 'eat lunch' or 'take a shower,' I probably will not do it."

4. What you say: "I'm totally going to relax this weekend."

What you mean: "By 'relax' I mean that I'm going to clean my apartment, bake some cookies, work on a project that is not due for three more weeks, paint my nails, vacuum my car, and organize my sock drawer."

5. What you say: "I will be OK."

What you mean: "Dear family and friends, I am going to need you to constantly reassure me about my life choices from now until eternity."

6. What you say: "I really don't care whether or not she liked me. I am who I am."

What you mean: "I'm most likely going to go bananas until I get some sort of validation or approval from that stranger who I just met."

7. What you say: "The dinner isn't until 7:00 p.m., so I will arrive about five minutes before."

What you mean: "It is 6:45 pm on the dot. Why isn't anyone here yet?"

8. What you say: "No, I'm not stressed out."

What you mean: "My life is basically over and I will amount to nothing."

9. What you say: "I'm going to bed early tonight."

What you mean: "I'm going to try to accomplish a week's worth of work before midnight and then toss and turn all night long."

10. What you say: "I'm super flexible!"

What you mean: "If it is not scheduled into my planner approximately one month prior, it's not going to happen."

11. What you say: "I am most certainly not an 'over-achiever.'"

What you mean: "Who am I kidding? Yes, I am. Please compliment me some more!"

Sometimes we can be domineering, impatient, and ridiculously anxious, but I promise you that we mean well. No matter how many times a Type A tries to be laid back, they can't help but be a bit neurotic. We might say that we are calm, but nine times out of ten, we will be slowly and meticulously counting all of the ways that things can go awry. Please just love us anyway!

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

It is no secret that many American traditions have changed over time. As we grow older we change in so many ways that it only makes sense that we also change the way we celebrate special occasions. Of course when it comes to the holidays there are some family traditions that many of us still excitedly look forward to, whether it is eating your favorite dish or seeing favorite cousin. However, we all know that the holidays have overall changed a little from what they used to be.
