The other day I was walking through the grocery store; to be
exact I was walking down the cookie aisle because that’s the best aisle there.
As I was taking that walk of pure happiness with my buggy tagging along I began
to admire the vast amount of cookies that were at my fingertips. There are over
1000 types of cookies in this world. No cookie is the same, kind of like people.
Some cookies are round, while others are slim. Some cookies are rough, while others are
soft. Some cookies are God’s gift to this green Earth, and some need to be thrown
into a dumpster.
As I was noticing this crazy correlation I started to think about the people in my life and the cookies in the aisle.
There are some people in my life that are very original, just like the original chocolate chip cookies. You can't go wrong with having them in your house. They have been the same since the beginning and will remain the same till the end. No matter what will come between you and the cookie (or person) they will remain the same and never change. Then you have those cute little Pillsbury sugar cookies that change according to the season. Halloween? Ghost cookies. Easter? Easter egg shapes. There are some people in my life that do the exact same thing. When they are around people they want to impress or fit in with, they begin to act differently. They tend to forget that these people who do not accept them for their real self will only be around for a short while.
Then you have those cookies that literally crumble at every touch. You have to handle them with care and if you don’t you better watch out, the entire cookie will crumble in your lap and that just becomes a huge mess. No one wants to deal with that. There are a few people in my life that are overly sensitive. They need to be coaxed and handled with care. Which is fine because I love helping people, but after a while it becomes a lot to deal with and I can only do so much. On to flip side, you have those cookies that are way too darn hard. Why even buy those cookies? It's not like you can even eat them, like them or even tolerate them. There's honestly no point in those cookies. Some people are so tough that they do not let anyone in, they are hard to deal with and eventually end up hurting you because of their tough exterior.
Some people in my life seem to always know the future. They always seem to have their life together and honestly I am a little jealous of them because I am no where close to feeling that way about my life. But, i am very thankful to have them in my life because they always have wise words or stories to tell me. They are like a fortune cookie, they already had to crumble to pieces before gaining their wisdom. My life goal is to be a fortune cookie, minus completely crumbling. Lets keep that to a minium.
Last but not least, you have those cookies that are just a bit too much deal with. They have the perfect shape and perfect package. They're so perfect you just want to get rid of them, so you drown them in milk and eat them. In every group of friends you have that one girl/boy that is beyond perfect. They constantly make you feel like the DUFF and you just want to be the ‘pretty perfect’ for once in your life. So, you contemplate a plan to show how non perfect they are, but that ultimately fails because they’re still perfect.
So, long story short, cookies are just like people. Some people are very sensitive and wear their heart on their sleeve, whereas other have a hard exterior and allow no one in. There are some individuals that are the same no matter who or where they are along with others who change according to their surroundings. Then, there are just some people who get under your skin for multiple different reasons and you want to get rid of them. My advice would be to buy a package of Oreos and drown them. but not people, you could go to jail for that.
