What To Watch On Netflix When It's Below Zero Outside

I, like many other citizens of this world, am a Netflix addict. I will fully admit to this and am not ashamed in the least bit. Last night as I was cuddled on my couch because it felt like -20 degrees outside, I was reminiscing on all of the wonderful shows I had watched over the years with my beloved Netflix. Please, if you haven't watched any of these shows, get on your couch immediately and do so.

Friends/The Office:

If you are looking for a quick watch these shows are good for you. Clocking in at about 20 mins each, these are perfect for right before bed. These will ensure a laugh and you will go to bed with a smile on your face no matter what. As an avid watcher of Friends, I can truly say that they never get old. I have watched all 10 seasons at least eight times through, because even after all this time, I still laugh! Now, I have only watched The Office once through (working on my second time in the near future) and I thought it was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. With so many cringe worthy moments during the show it's bound to make you glad you're sitting at home watching it, rather than experiencing it in real life.

Revenge:

This show is a thriller. You never know what main character Emily Thorne is planning next. While watching this, your full attention is required, and you won't ever want to stop watching. I may have been guilty of watching seven episodes in one sitting accidentally. Keep in mind they're 40 minutes long. Oops. With that being said, it's a series that you get baffled by, because it has so many unusual twists and turns within it. Just go watch I can't say anything else because I will probably ruin something for you.

One Tree Hill/Friday Night Lights:

These two shows just make you feel good. One Tree Hill is based around basketball, and Friday Night Lights around football. Both are family shows that have a lot of love, family, and drama. I can't lie when I say that the main characters in both shows aren't hard on the eyes, so that definitely makes watching them more appealing. I'm not going to ruin anything by saying this, but both have a happy ending if you have your doubts while watching them.

American Horror Story:

I was skeptical about starting this show, as I'm not usually into this type of genre. But once I started, it was addicting. If you haven't heard much about this show, they have the same actors in all the seasons, but different story lines each season. They are very different then a lot of things on TV right now. It can be a little graphic at times, but that only enhances the show. I am watching the fourth season right now, and can say I haven't been disappointed so far. I will say, you have to be in a certain mood to watch these, and pay very close attention to what is happening. This show has a rumor for being scary, but it's more freaky then anything.

Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice

Everyone and their mom has heard of Grey's Anatomy by this point. A bunch of doctors meet through their residency at Seattle Grace Hospital, and become friends/boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives throughout the show. It's constant drama between all the main characters, and just a spoiler, a lot of people die. Not as many people have heard of Private Practice, which is a spin off of Grey's Anatomy with a main character from Grey's being the lead (Addison Montgomery) with a whole new cast behind her. I love both of these shows equally, so don't ask me to choose which one is my favorite, I can't do it.

So, with these below zero nights becoming more and more frequent, cuddle up on your couch, grab some popcorn and a blanket, and settle in for a couple hours to start one of these shows.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
