What To Watch On Netflix This Thanksgiving Break

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving break is coming up in just a few short weeks. These couple of days off gives college students, or students in general, a time to go home, rest, relax, see old friends, see family, eat delicious food, and watch Netflix! Now, you might be wondering, "What shows are there to binge watch?" I have made up a list of my favorite shows that are on Netflix that I would strongly recommend to anyone. Some are old shows and some are new, but they're all amazing.

1. Friends.

This old show is about a group of friends living in New York City. The characters are very relatable and the show is sure to make you laugh. A perk about this show is that you can watch any episode and not be confused. Each episode is completely different from each other.

2. Grey's Anatomy.

You don't have to be a doctor, surgeon or medical school student to fall in love with this show. You get an inside look of what it's like to be a high-ranked surgeon or a newbie straight out of med school. Even if you don't like medical stuff, you must watch it to see Dr. McDreamy.

3. Once Upon A Time.

Are you into the old fairy tales like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Red Riding Hood? If so, this show is perfect for you! All the fairy tale characters are trapped in this little town and have to work together to break the curse. It's all your favorite old time fairy tales, but with a twist.

4. The Fosters.

This show starts off slow at first, but picks up and makes turning it off impossible. The characters are well developed, the plot is always taking unexpected turns and is overall amazing. It's about the foster care system, but is understandable and relatable.

5. American Horror Story.

Netflix has season 1-5 of this great show, so bingeing it will be very easy! I'm not a fan of horror movies, but this show is one of my favorites! Each season is different, but they all are fantastic! Murder House? Asylum? Coven? Freak Show? Hotel? Watch them all!

These are my top five shows that I highly recommend watching this Thanksgiving break. Each one of them are very easy to get hooked on and are impossible to turn off. There is never a dull moment in any of the shows. Action, comedy, drama, romance, etc. These shows have them all! So, this Thanksgiving break I hope you all get a chance to relax and spend time with your family. And, if you get the chance, you have a list of shows to binge watch! I hope you enjoy at least one of them and get hooked onto them as easily as I did. I hope you enjoy!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
