Looking for a new show?

It’s summertime and what does that mean for most of us? Guilt free Netflix binge watching! Maybe not completely guilt free, but at least there is no more school work to get in the way of watching some Netflix. Looking for something new to watch? Here are a few of my suggestions.

Pretty Little Liars. Now I can agree with many of the haters that this show gets a little excessive and confusing. But I don’t care, it is so good! It will always keep you interested and has a little bit for everyone. So far there are five seasons of murder, mystery, love, and high school drama, with more to come.

Breaking Bad. It took me a while to finally cave in and watch this show. For me, it is a bit gruesome, but that does not stop me from watching. I’m way too invested. I honestly don’t know what to say other than it is so good. It really opens your eyes. Watch it, b**** as Jesse would say. All season are available on Netflix.

Gossip Girl. I know this show was a big thing back in the day and many have probably seen it. I however only started to watch it over Christmas break and needless to say all 6 seasons were done before school started again. I’d watch it over again in a heartbeat, and I was so sad it was over. Watch to see the drama of the Upper East Side unfold.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. This show was so odd, but also so good. Its honestly just a fun show to watch. A lot of laughs. Plus that theme song will be forever engraved in my brain. They alive dammit!

The Carrie Diaries. A sort of precursor to sex and the city, it follows teenage Carrie Bradshaw. Unfortunately you will not like how it ends because the show was canceled, but I am still asking myself why. A great show of exploration and there are 2 seasons on Netflix.

How I Met Your Mother. If you are looking for a long haul, this show is the best. These characters are like your friends and you can’t help but keep watching what is going on in their weird lives, and the ending got everybody! Lucky for you there are 9 seasons of it on Netflix.

Baby Daddy. Another comedy, and one worth watching. Young Ben gets little Emma dropped on his doorstep, raising her with the help of his family and friends. Filled with love and laughter. If you love Melissa Peterman as Barbra Jean on Reba, here is another great role for her as Mrs. Wheeler. While there's more to come, there are currently 5 seasons on Netflix.

Cupcake wars. This one seems really random I know but for some reason I really enjoy watching this show if I’m between shows or just want to watch something while I’m bored. Creativity, food, and three typical judges. Great show.

Have a great summer and happy binge watching everyone!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
