We as humans love to take risks, or really love the feel of adrenaline that we get from risky things. That feeling can be one of the best feelings, but for some, it can be the worst. Rollercoasters can be fun for everyone of all ages, and these rollercoasters can cause an adrenaline rush, and that's why people love them.
It's not the only reason people love them, but for a good few, it is. Whenever my friends want to go to places like Six Flags, Kings Island, or even the county fair; I'm game. But I don't ride any of the rides, if I do then you'll see me on things like the swings, or the carousel. I know it may sound pointless to go to these places if I don't ride the rides but honestly, I don't mind. I will proudly watch everyone's stuff and not ride anything to elaborate.
See the reasoning behind it is, when I was younger I got stuck on the very top of a Ferris wheel. The Fire Department was called out to get everyone off, and the whole situation only added onto my fear of heights, which in all caused me to be really freaked out.
Later on, in life, I ended up going to Six Flags with a close friend of mine during the Holiday Park event, and since it was my first time going; he insisted we should get on the Goliath. So I wet on it and instantly regretted it. The adrenaline rush I was feeling was pure terror and I was very shaken up afterward.
Needless to say, I didn't ride any of the other ones. And I've been to six flags on two other occasions. I've tried to ride the many rides at the park but my brain made me freak out. I understand that the rides go through countless safety checks and that a bunch of people have gotten on them before me, but I just overthink the whole thing.
I recently got on "The Great American Scream Machine", and well I got so scared going down the first drop I was close to fainting (mainly because I screamed and it took my breath away).
So, For me riding rides is one of the most unpleasant things on earth, but I still go to those places when I'm asked/invited. Mainly because I do enjoy watching everyone have fun, or really just enjoy being in an environment where everyone is enjoying themselves. It's kind of like a good pick me up for days when I'm sad, and since I go with people who enjoy riding rides, I make sure their stuff is safe and wait.
I even like to play those little booth games that you can find scattered around these amusement parks. So even tho you may not find me on a rollercoaster such as the "Twisted Cyclone", or "Goliath", you can most certainly find me at the nearest pay-to-play game holding everyone else's stuff.
