What To Remember When Your Heartbroken

We all have that one guy. That one guy that we like. Date. Love. Then lose because we are hurt by him. The one guy that promised you he would always be there. The one guy that promised he would NEVER hurt you. Do you have someone in mind? I bet you do.

He was the one guy you loved a love stronger than anything you have ever felt before. The guy who could make your heart skip a beat. The guy whose hand felt like a puzzle piece fitting perfectly in yours. The guy whose arms felt like your home. The eyes that looked at you and made you feel like the most beautiful girl in the entire world. The guy that made you laugh a laugh no one ever heard, smile a smile that radiated brighter than the sun. That made your heart so big you felt as if it would explode out of your chest. The one guy you fell in love with from the start and knew in the back of your mind, you would spend the rest of your life together, no matter where life takes you, you would find your way back to each other.

And then came the day. The day where all those feelings went away. Your heart now ripped out of your chest, thrown down and shattered into a million and one pieces. A pain so bad that you thought you could not carry on. A sinking feeling in your chest came on. Tears flowing from those eyes that once had a beautiful sparkle in them from him, no completely dull and lifeless. You felt as if your world had crashed. You felt as if you could just not ever get up from your tear-soaked pillow. Every little thing reminded you of him. Maybe it still does. He changed into someone you never thought he would. Someone you should not love. Someone who does not deserve you. Someone who you hate that you love. You can’t get over him. You can't move on. You can’t do anything because the confidence and happiness you once felt has been taken away in the blink of an eye with no explanation. The true love of your life has quickly and suddenly slipped from your grasp. He hurt you more than you ever thought, and the pain of losing him was more than humanly possible.

But now listen closely.

That smile, that smile is still there. It’s just taking a small break.

That sparkle in your eyes, it’s just too bright for anyone who is not worthy.

That pain, that pain is there to let you know just how much you love him.

That heart, oh that beautiful, strong heart, it’s just protecting you.

I know that pain. I know you feel as if you cannot go on. I know you feel as if your world has fallen apart before your eyes. You feel as if your life is over. I know your heart has been shattered into pieces you cannot ever put back together and your walls are up again. I know you still love him and want him more than anything in this world. I know you would give anything to go back. And I know that you are blaming yourself.

I know you are curled up in a ball at night crying and beating yourself up because you feel as if it is your fault. I know you are clenching your chest as you think of what could have been. I know that your heart aches for the time where you were happy and times were the best you’ve ever had. I know that you are longing for those back and would do just about anything right now to go back in time. But I promise you, you will not feel that forever. I know it may be hard to hear now but you will not feel this forever.

One day,

That smile, that smile will come back and be bigger than ever.

That sparkle in your eyes, it’s gonna shine brighter than anyone has ever seen.

That pain, that pain will be a weight lifted off your shoulders.

That heart, that heart of yours will always have a piece missing, but I promise you it won’t be broken anymore.

You are stronger than any heartbreak. Nothing can keep you down from this, you will pick yourself up and be happy again. You deserve all the happiness in the world and you will one day find the reason just why heartbreak had to happen because the happiness you feel is made for you and is stronger than any sadness you have ever felt. You are a strong little fighter who deserves all the happiness in the world. Your heart is stronger than you think.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
