Every year, Dec. 31 comes around, and we all make our grand New Year's Resolutions. What will it be this year? Are you trying to drop ten pounds or hit the gym every day? Or are you going for something more simple, such as "I will be nice to everyone?" Whatever your resolution ends up being, there are a few things we should all leave behind in 2015.
1. Regrets
So you did something you probably shouldn't have? So you didn't do something you had the opportunity to? It happens. Stop dwelling on things you can't change and focus on the things you still have the opportunity to do and fix. A new year means new everything, so leave the past alone.
2. Following Others
Stop doing things that aren't making you happy just for the sake of others. You don't need to be a follower. Everyone is born to stand out and be their own person. You have great qualities that are being hidden when you're standing behind someone. Come out of your shell and be a leader.
3. Negative Self Perception
Don't compare yourself to others; you are the best you. Who cares what others look like or what they are doing? You shouldn't. Everything about you is perfect. Being too hard on yourself won't do anything. Appreciate yourself and you will feel better.
4. Envy
Being envious gets you nowhere. You have no idea what is actually going on in someone else's life, so don't judge them based on only what they are allowing you to see. They may even be envious of you. Do things for yourself.
5. Old Expectations
New year, time for new goals! Forget the things you didn't accomplish and start fresh. Set new goals for yourself and don't stress out. Be realistic in your goal setting and make a plan that will allow you to achieve all expectations.
6. That One Person
There will always be that one someone who can irritate you to no end. Cut them out of your life; all they are doing is causing you negativity.
7. "I can't"
Delete "I can't" out of your vocabulary because YES you CAN. You can do anything you put your mind to, and those who love you will always have your back. The potential you have is unreal, so don't let it go to waste.
I hope that everyone pledges to leave the negativity behind and find true joy in their attitude and lifestyle. The years are coming and going; don't let them go to waste. Make 2016 your best year yet.
With that being said, bring it on, 2016.
What will you resolution be? How will you be a better you in 2016?
