My man, well let’s be honest, has pretty much everything. If he wants something, he has the ability to go get it for himself. Though our relationship isn’t about material things, it does put some pressure on me to try to think outside the box on what to do for him come this holiday season.
1. Cooler
None of us are actually that “artsy.” Let us keep it simple this year since your man isn’t exactly your mother and won’t necessarily fall in love with an amateur art project that you attempted. If he’s a frat boy, a cooler is always a nice gesture, especially if you haven’t painted him one yet. It’s not too complicated, just tedious.
2. Coupons
If your man is like mine, he likes his back rubs. Make a coupon booklet of cute coupons of things you can do for him. It’s such a thoughtful gift to give him the power to choose when he can use them. Maybe include a few blank ones as well.
3. Photographs
Guys are secretly a little sentimental. Remember all of those “cute” and “candid” photographs you made him take? Do something cute with them! Make a scrapbook or frame your favorite one in black and white to put on his night stand.
4.Video games
There. I said it. My man doesn’t play Fifa, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty or any of those games. He doesn’t even own a console. To those women who are always putting up with sharing your time with the Xbox, what better way to call it a truce than to get the new edition of his favorite video game? It’s a nice compromise, and wouldn’t you rather him be glued to the television than out at the bars?
5. Film
Let’s get sentimental. What is your favorite movie that you’ve ever watched as a couple? If he doesn’t have a copy of it, get it!
6. “Music”
Make a playlist of your favorite “coupley” songs. Type up the order and write why it makes you think of him or what it reminds you of, then decorate the case!
7. Alcohol
Whether it’s scotch on the rocks or a cold beer, all guys love their alcohol. Get him a big handle of his favorite drink with a cute bow and include a new glass or two. It’s simplistic, and he’ll be happy.
8. Sports
You could literally get your man anything sports related, and he will have to love you forever. If he plays a sport, then get a ball, stick it in a glass cube with a plaque engraved “MVP of my heart,” then top it off with a bow. It’s cute and simplistic, just like the male mind.
9. Get-away
If you’re in college, you’ll be home for a month. Plan a little get-away. It could be going to a local hotel for a couple nights or going out of town for a few days. Either way, you get alone time.
10. Food
Have you ever heard the saying, “the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?” It’s proven itself to be true. Make his favorite dessert and put a new twist on it. If not, men love meat. Get him some steaks or a gift card to a butcher. You’ll get a bit of it anyway, so it’s a win/win.
As if guys aren’t hard enough to shop for, it’s hard to think of things to get for your man who seems like he has everything. It’s important to remember that he DOES have everything. He has you. You are his everything. So don’t sweat elaborate, expensive gifts. Be thankful that you have each other and keep it sweet and simple this holiday season.
