Festival season has finally begun and with weekend one behind me, I am here to tell you how to best thrive, or at least survive, at Coachella weekend two. For all of you that joined me for weekend one, you know just how magical of a place Coachella truly is. For all you weekend-two-goers I am here to tell you this weekend will be everything you imagined and more. There are not many places that can compete with Disneyland as the happiest place on earth, but Coachella somehow makes pretty good competition. However, your Coachella experience is heavily dependent on how prepared you are. Therefore, I am here to give you the dos and don’ts to insure you have the best weekend of your life.
Do: Bring warm clothes. Indio weather is unpredictable and nights can be pretty chilly. If you are camping, the tents will get toasty during the days, but at night they don’t keep out the cold so definitely bring warmer clothes to sleep in.
Don’t: Leave your belongings outside a locked car while you are at the festival. This is for the campers, since they will be the ones most vulnerable to stealing. I would love to believe that people wouldn’t rifle through someone’s stuff, but it does happen and it’s better not to take the risk. I had many friends say they had things stolen over the weekend that they really wished they would have locked them away.
Do: Bring tons of water. Dehydration, heat exhaustion, and fainting are real and common in the desert heat. It is so important you drink tons of water before entering and also while at the concert.
Do: If you are camping, shower at night or in the early morning. If you're going to shower, the lines are the shortest in the early morning and late at night, so those will be your best bet. I would suggest bringing shower slippers, because the showers are not the most cleanly. It’s definitely worth waking up or staying up for, since you will most likely be covered in sweat and dust all day long.
Do: Bring portable chargers into the festival. It is not fun to lose your friends at a music festival and even less fun when your phone is dead and have no means of contacting them. There were countless amounts of times people came up to me at the festival and either asked to borrow my phone to call someone or use my Facebook messenger, so definitely try and bring a portable charger if you own one.
Do: If you are camping, bring toilet paper. The porta potties are stocked each morning, but there will be definite times that you find yourself without any in your stall, so definitely bring some.
Do: Take pictures, you will regret it if you don’t. You don't even have to post them anywhere, but just having pictures that will keep the memory alive for years to come will make you really appreciate the weekend you spent in Indio.
Lastly, expect to have the an epic weekend filled with expectational sets with outstanding performers, stifling heat, but really great tans, and amazing experiences that will last a lifetime.
Enjoy.
