Writer's block..even the best of us get it sometimes. When you have something important you need to write and have no idea what to write about or how to start it, it can be challenging especially if you are on a time limit. I personally get writer's block all the time. In fact, that is what made me write this article because I couldn't think of anything to write about! I hope this helps you out just as much as it helped me!

1. Get rid of distractions

Having a clear and focused mind is the first and most important thing to have when starting to write. Whether it be an article or a big paper due, being focused is key. Eliminate anything that might take attention away from your writing.

2. Relax

Most of the time, writer's block happens when you are so uptight and are so stressed about writing the perfect paper. Well in order to do that, you need to chill out. Being stressed out and nervous about writing will only block your brain from trying to figure out what to actually write about. Take a breath, drink some coffee, and clear your mind.

3. Switch locations

This may be something you never thought would help you with writer's block or..you totally knew already. Change up where you write! I personally sometimes go to the library or the commons in my dorm hall to write. Having the change of scenery and mood can make you feel relaxed and focused and will help you think more clearly.

4. Free write

Sometimes you can steal ideas from yourself! Start writing about anything you want, what ever comes to mind. Once you feel like you have done enough free writing, read over what you wrote. You'd be surprised how many topic ideas you might get from yourself.

5. Search the internet

The internet is a great tool to use for trying to find ideas. Look at any soical media or news stations to see what is happening around the world. This will get your mind thinking about world problems or events that you can possibly write about.

6. Listen to music

Listening to music can help you accomplish the first two suggestions I had at the same time. Music can help you focus and relax. For some people listening to classical music works the best. Maybe the music itself will give you some ideas to write about.

These are only some of many ways you can beat writer's block. Do whatever works best for you! If you are still having a problem figuring out what to write, ask someone for help. Don't be afraid to ask because anyone that has had to write well..anything really, has been in your spot at some point.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
