"How whimsical!"

I often find myself sucked into the depths of beauty supply stores and their endless aisles of majestic products -- lipstick that comes in 100 shades, glitter you can put on your whole body, rainbow eyeshadow palettes... Just shut up and take my money already!!!

Besides the glitter and pretty colors, though, I wear makeup every day for a bundle of great reasons. It is fun to put on, pays for my zits' college educations, and hides my identity so that I can stay in the witness protection program. What could be better than that, folks?!

The problem with makeup nowadays, though, is that "bold" looks often entail using neutral shades. This baffles me because makeup palettes offer so much more than just boring beige pigments! So why do we spend so much money on makeup if we are only going to use the same few colors? Do our faces really deserve to live a monochromatic life?

To help combat this issue, here are three quick and easy looks that I came up with using my brain, my fingers, and an eyeshadow brush. I am putting myself through this creative torture so that you can feel comfortable using every color in your makeup palette and justify spending $50 or more on it without feeling guilty. You're welcome. Don't be afraid to be bold, my friends, or else you might as well stick to the far left quadrant of the Naked 3 palette for the rest of your life.

DISCLAIMER: No palettes were harmed during the documentation of this makeup science. Skin may have been irritated and eyelashes might have gotten lost in my cornea. That, and I can never show my face in public again after this article is published

"Are you the girl that did that makeup tutorial?"

First Things First...

To create these looks, you will need the following:

- A mirror (optional, but recommended)

- A hand with at least one finger

- An eyeshadow brush

- Bright and colorful eyeshadows

I started off with a basic face of makeup before adding in the color for these looks. The palettes that I used were the Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow palette and the Minnie Mouse palette from Sephora.

"A clean, fresh face to start!"

Look No. 1: Citrus Summer Fun

This daytime look is sure to make you feel flirty and fun for the summertime! The Sprite-inspired eyeshadow is refreshing, while the deep-grape contouring really defines the cheekbones. To finish this look off, cover the lips in a metallic "kiddie pool" shade and let your hair flow wild and free! You are sure to be the belle of the beach with this unique look.

Look No. 2: It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Your Face!

This look is specially crafted for a night out with your gal pals! Inspired by the movie "Zenon," take your makeup to the moon with metallic blue and purple pigments. Stay on top of the trends by putting purple on your top lip and blue on your bottom lip, with a matching pattern for your eyes. Don't forget to contour your whole face with purple, while highlighting in blue! To go the extra light year, dab dots onto your cheekbones in alternating colors. With this makeup look, your peers are sure to think that you are out of this world!

Look No. 3: Regal Cinema Star

This last look is for special occasions such as a wedding, the prom, the red carpet, or any formal event with some sort of dress code. From cheek to cheek, cover your entire eye area (including your brows) with a fluorescent pink. To really make those eyeballs pop, trace curves over your eyebrows and under your lower lash line in thick black lines. Highlight the corners of your eyes with white dots and make your nose pop by covering it completely in green. For the lips, mix whatever metallic colors you feel like! Go nuts! It's a special day for you or someone you know! Nothing gives off that old Hollywood glamour vibe more than overly defined features!

Overall, every one of these looks is quite wearable and easy to do. Feel free to use your own color combinations and patterns while using my photos as inspiration. Most importantly though, remember to have fun with your makeup! You or someone you know spent a lot of money on that palette -- so you might as well make the most of it! As my favorite cartoon character, Ms. Frizzle, always says, "take chances, make mistakes, and get messy! OK, bus, do your stuff!"

"This is what dreams are made of!"

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
