11 Things To Do When You Don't Know What To Do

In This Article:

Growing up, anytime I complained of being bored, my mom would give me a list of chores to do. In order to avoid having to do extra chores, I created a list of things I could do anytime I was bored or had free time. Here is a more grown-up version of that list:

1. Journal

It's always great to get your feelings and ideas down on paper. Just find a nice, cozy spot and let your thoughts flow.

2. Clean

Just admit it, there is always a dish to do, a bed to make, or laundry to do. If you have free time, you may as well be productive.

3. Relax for a minute

Take advantage of having a minute of free time and just sit. How often do you really get to just sit?

4. Call a friend or family member

Staying in touch with family is more and more difficult the older you get, but also still very important.

5. Take a walk outside

Get some fresh air and clear your head! You may meet someone, see something you never thought you would, or just run into a dog on a walk. Plus, it's always good to get some exercise.

6. Go visit an animal shelter

Those dogs and cats can get lonely and need someone to play with! As hard as it can be to go and not try and adopt all of them, it's still good to go and talk with them.

7. Make a cup of tea

It always makes me feel better to brew a fresh cup of tea. It makes the room smell good and you get the added hydration!

8. Play your favorite playlist

Just finding a good place to sit and jam to your favorite tunes can immediately boost your mood. You can even multitask by doing this and several other things on this list!

9. Write a poem or song

Challenge yourself by putting your thoughts down in a structures format! It can be fun and enjoyable to be creative and productive.

10. Read a book you've been wanting to

Even if you only read a couple of chapters, you will have something done and can feel productive! Nothing bad can come from reading a good book.

11. Try an at home workout

Even if you just attempt one, you will feel great after! There are so many options and lists available online, there is no excuse not to. Just do it!
