Traveling during the summer months can get pretty hectic.

What To Do When Your Flight Is Delayed

It’s high travel season, which means that if you’re flying somewhere, chances are that your flight will be delayed. Delays are inconvenient and just plain annoying. Waiting by a gate is boring and mostly very busy, because flights tend to be full in the summer. As I’m typing this, my flight has been delayed five times and the employee at the gate has no idea how long it’s going to take to get another plane at our gate. Here are some things that you can do to pass the time while waiting to board a plane.

Listen to music

Zoning out isn’t easy to do in a stressful environment like an airport. Listening to my favorite songs and calming music is a great and relaxing way to pass the time.

Read or Write

Bringing a good book or downloading one is essential for traveling. Being able to immerse myself in a world other that my own is a great distraction. I love writing. It’s therapeutic to me to write out what I’m thinking and feeling. It’s a great way to process situations.

Walk

If you’re like me, sitting for too long can make you antsy, uncomfortable, and sleepy all at the same time. Especially if you’re in a different state or country, being able to explore an airport is really fun and interesting.

Eat

If you don't know when you'll have access to food next, it's a good idea to get a bite to eat or get some snacks for when you're already on the plane.

Catch up on things

It's not often that I get time free from distractions. I'm waiting, I like to take advantage of the extra free time and catch up on things that I've procrastinated.

If you do some or all of these things, before you know it, you'll be on your way.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

107
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
