Doing school day in and day out through a computer screen is exhausting. Even though we are not doing a whole lot physically like moving from class to class on campus with a busy schedule, we are still being challenged mentally to sit on the computer all day practically. Personally, I get exhausted from staring at my computer. I hate sitting in the same place for most of the day. It has been a difficult semester that we had to transition to. No matter how overwhelmed you are, remember to take time for you own mental and physical health.

Here are five suggestions when you just need a break.

Go for a walk or to the gym

This is my go-to when I need a mental break. Exercise is truly the best medicine and we all need to get out and remember to be physically active!

Take a nap

Rest is important and sometimes all we need is a quick power nap to refuel!

Take a warm shower

Taking a warm shower is a great way to relax. Either it can wake you up or be a way to relax and destress which is often just what we need.

Call some friends or family

Get your mind off of school work and call someone you love. I always call my mom when I need to chill and talk about something other than school. I have also found that it really does help to destress as well.

Find a good show or movie to watch

Lastly, taking to watch a good movie or tv show can provide the right brain break too. There are many good ones to choose from on both Hulu and Netflix.

Overall, remember that you deserve a break and to thrive in school, you need to be healthy in all aspects or your life!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
