Working in an office means midday slumps. I recently found out the office term for the middle-of-the-day-tiredness that I’ve had since starting high school. I remember feeling completely tired everyday in my AP Biology class right after lunch, just as I always want to take a nap after eating lunch at work.
Sadly though, I cannot just take a nap at my desk. Here’s a few tips on how to combat your midday slump.
1. Stretching
It’s the first thing you do when waking up from sleeping in the morning, so why wouldn't you do it when you're feeling tired in the middle of the day? I find that stretching my back specifically helps the rest of my body.
2. Green Tea
If you want to go the caffeine route, try green tea. This why if you've already had your coffee, you won't get the same coffee taste. Plus green tea is apparently healthier than coffee.
3. Gum
This is probably a little weird, but since I usually get tired after lunch, I chew gum just in case the food left a funny taste in my mouth. It also somehow keeps me a little busy with the chewing.
4. Listening to Music
I pretty much always listen to music when working, either with one headphone in or on a speaker. The difference is that for the midday slump, I listen to luis with both headphones in. I also make sure to listen to upbeat, fun music! Side note: you ever need recommendations, I totally got you.
5. Meditate
Personally, I still have trouble with this in all honesty, but I saw that successful people like Steve Jobs would do this. If it works for the guy of Apple, then maybe it can work for me at my 9-5 law firm job.
I hope these five quick tips help you guys with your own midday slumps, just as they've helped me in some way or another!
