These last few days have been history in the making and will be marked in the books as such. These last few days have created a rise of emotions and resulting actions. In these last few days, Donald Trump became our 45th President of the United States of America.

If you know me, you know I am not the one who jumps into conversations about politics. I do not like to get too involved in political dialogue, especially in this election, for many reasons. I can openly say I voted for Donald Trump, and I do not regret that decision.

The whole world seems to have forgotten that the United States is one nation, one country, and we are supposed to stand together, regardless of who won this election. I think everyone in the United States should take a huge step back, take a deep breath, and look closely at what will happen in the future.

Even though I voted for Donald Trump, I do not fully agree with everything he had to say and offer to us Americans. The world needs more balance, and I fully believe that having an equal balance is the only way our country can run smoothly and rebuild itself back to the strong country we should be.

The way we have been treating each other, treating both candidates, and treating our loved ones, has been absolutely absurd and disgusting. Social media has become a hateful place that I refuse to be a part of until it goes back to cute videos of dogs and hilarious memes.

I just wrote a paper recently about change, and how it is a very positive action we can make for ourselves. Embracing change in a positive way is the only way it actually is positive for us. A lot of us are not taking this change in a very good way. Starting riots, burning the American flag, vandalizing our local communities, and refusing to call Donald Trump your President is NOT embracing what has happened in a positive way. There is no way every single person in the United States was going to be happy with any possible outcome of the election because we are so diverse with many different opinions.

FYI, he is going to be our President and, honestly, we all have to deal with that reality. It happened. It's over. We need to start being Americans again and trust in our new President, the government, and, most of all, God to put us in the right place again.

The way we have been acting as a country in no way represents who we are as a nation and we all have to realize that before something really bad happens.

I will sit back and let the man do his job. I will give him the chance to fix what has happened to our country. I do realize some people feel as though they are in danger due to what Donald Trump has said about certain groups of people living in the United States. All I have to say is that you are not alone, you will be okay, and there are many people who voted for Trump, but still stand strongly by your side.

With that being said, anyone who is reading this and feels alone or scared, please do not hesitate to message me. Do not be afraid to reach out especially when you have so many people on your side. I stand with everyone and I stand with America. Forever.

"We take the stars from heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity, representing our liberty." -George Washington

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
