An Outsider's Perception Of Sororities

This week on my campus, sororities had formal fall recruitment. My definition of this: all the girls in sororities wear their sorority stuff all week and other girls (who aren't in sororities but want to be) get all nervous and dressed up and go and meet/talk about all things sorority. Then, by the end of it, hopefully the sorority they wanted to be in wanted them then all is good.

I could be and probably am completely wrong, but we'll go with it.

In my opinion, sororities are a really great thing. I'm not a sorority gal and will probably never be, but my view on it is if you're in a community where you can all relate on similar things and call each other sisters, it should be a kind and healthy environment. Also, you're in a great position to encourage and make an impact on each other.

In addition to all of that--GIRL POWER. I love the idea of a community of girls have a strong sisterhood and friendship without boys. We've grown up all of our lives with boys being around, but here is a chance to be a part of a huge thing without them. Who run the world?

Another reason why I think sororities are great is because so often, we get in with a group of girls, and they turn out to be not who we thought they were. Girls are mean. But I think sororities make the decision together on who to accept into their sisterhood, and I believe they are capable of picking really awesome girls. Sororities have the opportunity to show their sorority family and all their new members that all girls aren't scary and mean.

Sororities have such a great opportunity to be amazing organizations for the girls on college campuses. So to all the Greek Life out there: take advantage of that bond you have with the people in your sororities/fraternities. Really, truly bond as sisters/brothers. Break the stereotypes.

Also, I'm really jealous of all your free t-shirts.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
