We, teenagers, get annoyed when our parents ask us how long we've actually been on our phones for the day. Little do they know the world that we live in.
Cell phones and social media are a constantly changing platform. Constantly changing how we communicate and interact with others. Things have definitely changed since our parents were in high school and college. When I'm told to just call someone because it's quicker, I get frustrated because my parents don't understand what "Read Receipts" are. They don't understand that a group chat might be the most effective way to figure out plans because you can get everyone's opinions at once. Social media is yet another way to communicate with our peers.
I'm one of the only people my age that actually enjoys using Facebook. I find it to be the best way to find out what is going on in everyone's lives. Granted not everyone uses Facebook and that's fine. Different strokes for different folks.
I appreciate the world of social media and the platforms that it provide. But, when I get insulted because "all you ever do is play on that phone", I take it to heart because that's how I communicate with both my family and friends. The fastest and most effective form of communication and entertainment.
