What They Don't Tell You About Acne

Let's be real, there has to be something that works, right?

I have read hundreds and hundreds of articles, watched about fifty YouTube videos all regarding acne. Each user claims that 'everyone's skin is different'. So the products they advertise in which seemingly cleared his/her complexion --- might not be for everyone.

Cool, I get it.

But how come there isn't just one solution for all skin types?

Like, some magical potion that just makes your skin clear and glowing. Well, let's be real, there is absolutely no cure to acne. Don't get me wrong, though, I have tried some products in the past that helped my acne -- to an extent. But the pattern has been clear to me for the last 5 grueling years of my imperfect complexion: cleansers are only a temporary fix. That face wash you used for the last 6 months has only been making your skin break out now that it has adjusted to the product.

Let's be real, there has to be something that works, right?

Well it's like this..

Now prepare yourself because you probably think I'm crazy... But it works.

I have struggled with combination skin with a severely bumpy complexion for a very long time. But the past few years of my adult life have been nothing but horrible skin. It's not at all easy to cover up with concealer, it does not go away fast enough, and it never stays completely clear --- until I have tried this at least.

I'm going to be completely honest, this process took me some time to get used to, but the results have been fabulous.

It's simple: I no longer wash my face ----- with soap that is.

I figure, I have tried every facial cleanser that has EVER existed, but the results always remained the same -- a bumpy complexion . So, why not give it up for just a week?

And, I did just that. My skin no longer feels oily, nor too dry, I have not broken out once and my old acne bumps seem to be fading away. And it makes sense because when you wash your skin CONSTANTLY (once or even twice a day), you're essentially stripping away all of the good protective oils that balance your skin to fight off infections. Even using a daily moisturizer after cleansing your skin can leave your skin too oily, causing more acne in the process of wanting to eliminate it.

I mean think about it --- as a kid I never felt the need to 'cleanse' my skin right after playing outside, and even then I never had one pimple or anything.

My experience with the 'no wash regimen (or lack thereof)' has been pretty simple, but it was rocky in the beginning because I was worried that my skin would get too oily and cause more acne. But it did the exact opposite. My complexion is not perfect whatsoever, but I also think that it will become better with time. I also learned that drinking water is key. Even if that means substituting your coffee for a bottle of water, your complexion will thank you in the future! It has really helped to keep my skin looking hydrated while also keeping my body hydrated.

I would recommend this regimen to anyone who has acne, but keep in mind that each of us are different. Sometimes our acne is caused from our diet, external products, stress, and the like. But, the regimen is free and it is by your leisure.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
