I never understood how powerful the truth is, and how much it can hurt at the same time. When I was a kid, I never understood the importance of the truth because my younger self would try to lie to get out of trouble. I am glad that I have come to the realization that the truth is a great thing to live by, and I guess that’s why we mature as we grow up. I wish that people could tell the truth and not hide the truth, but that is only in a perfect world. The world is filled with lies and the illusions of truth that blind people. I'd rather be told the truth than be put through numerous lies.

Recently I have learned how much the truth can hurt and how it brings out people’s true colors. I have seen a lot of commercials lately that show people being up front telling the truth. I'd rather this happen because it would make life easier and hurt free. Truth is a fickle thing and people, for some odd reason, don’t believe that the truth is the right thing to do.

People need to learn that the truth is always the right answer no matter what. Lies hurt and truth can as well. What I have learned is to never lie, no matter how unbearable the information may be. The truth is better than withholding the information. I have said this before: “Lying makes you ugly." This is a metaphor, not actually true. I personally think that lying makes a person ugly, and I mean ugly in their personality and traits. If you lie, then you are a person that should learn to embrace the truth and live by it. Don’t let lying make you “ugly,” overcome it and embrace the truth.

Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
