Falling in love is a part of nearly everyone's life. Fairy tales have led us to believe that we each have a soulmate, but truly it seems as though this is a trick sometimes.

Of course there are those who are swept away by each other. Those who instantly fall in love with one another are lucky, but what about those who have to fight for affection?

The truth is: unrequited love sucks. Falling for someone who doesn't feel the same way as you is a pretty fatal blow. You might hear violins playing every time they enter the room, but they might just see you as a friend. Is this the point when you give up or do you keep going. At what point do you need to accept that they don't feel as you do.

I guess it really depends on the situation. If there is an abrupt "no"'from them when you admit your feelings, then you should probably hang up that coat. But if there is even the slightest chance that they might like you back, don't give up yet. They might feel the way you do but they might just not be ready yet. They might be as scared as you are.

Love is a scary thing, but it can also be wonderful. It all starts with a little crush, and truthfully it might not always work out. You'll never know if you don't try, though. Right? So go for it, because you're an amazing person who deserves love.

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
